I haven't been sewing much for myself. All my students have sewn more this month than I did for myself :) I did sew quite a few t-shirts for the markets and online shop though as well as 3 samples for courses.
From last month fabric shopping in Scotland, I made a sample for my dressmaking 2 course. It is a lovely soft dress, perfect for the hot weather in Dubai. Rayon is really lovely to wear here.
I also tried two new patterns, both available on the website: Marguerite Dress from Sew Over It as well as the Ogden Cami from True Bias. I used the same fabric for both.
The Marguerite Dress needs a bit more tweaking. I made size ... - based on my waist measurement. But it feels a bit snug, especially after a few bites. The back has too much room, so I have to go back and take the back in. I also had to lower the neckline because I cut into my fabric when trimming the fabric after sewing the facing on. It still looks nice but obviously very annoying. Since the bodice and the skirt are both gathered into the waistband, I will cut the next waistband between 14 and 16 ensuring that I will actually have a full 1" between my actual measurement and the finished measurement.
With the left over fabric, 1m, I sewed an Ogden Cami. One of the quickest garment sewing projects ever. Without cutting, it took not more than 1,5 hours to sew all pieces. I am looking forward to make many more out of all the 1m left over fabrics hanging in my drawers.
With the discovery of the Ogden Cami, I made another one in a Yellow Mustard - not my colour I had to realize. Mustard is difficult colour, and some shades suit me well (like the cardigan in the previous pics), other shades really wash me out. I think if I buy more mustard, it needs to be a ocra shade, rather than a yelloe mustard.
I also queezed in another Agnes top in Black Jersey - available on the website. This top is so quick to make, now that I have made more than a dozen.
And that's it for this month. Next month, I am planning a selfless sewing month. So keep your eyes open.
