It has been far too long since my last post.
Fortunately, the reason I didn't have time was because we had visitors in town. Always nice to have family and friends to come out especially now when the weather here in Dubai is getting really nice.
This month my purchases have been mainly with Sew Over It. I finally purchased some of the fabrics I had my eye on for quite a while and I was lucky that they were still in stock.
Here are my purchases:
Online Courses
With Sew Over It's recent 50% off sale, I purchased some online classes: Grace Dress and Ultimate Guide to Sewing & Fitting Trousers.
Initially I only planned to get the trousers online class but I always wanted the Grace Dress Pattern. While I am self-taught, I wanted to get proper lessons and ensure that whatever I taught myself is actually correct.
Stretch Cotton
Stretch Cottons are great for my work wardrobe because I have to (mostly) sit in my dress or skirt 10 hours a day and this fabric has enough give to be comfortable through out the day. I bought a plain black and a black & white (Mirror Fleck) one for another Pencil Skirt. And I also treated myself to this beautiful pink floral stretch cotton which looks like a Japanese print. I saw this fabric and thought that this will be great for a dress for a wedding (next year). I just spotted that the fabric is now available at half price - yeah!!
Crepe & Rayon
For some time now, I wanted to purchase the online class for sewing & fitting trousers, so I bought these fabrics for that particular reason. Both fabrics are planned for the Carrier Trousers from the online class.
The grey rayon will be a great addition to my work wardrobe while the 'Jungle Fever' crepe is a new style for me. I normally don't have so many loud prints, I love my floral dresses here and there but a pair of trousers with such a bold print is definitely new to me. I am excited to see how I will like it. (Un)Fortunately, the shop got the order wrong and initially send me a Cotton Lawn of the same print so they made sure a second parcel is on the way to me with the crepe version. Both type of fabrics of the 'Jungle Fever' print are sold out on Sew Over It but I did spot the crepe on Fabric Godmother, if you are interested.
Cotton Lawn
Beside the additional free 'Jungle Fever' cotton lawn - which will be a Bettine Dress from Tilly & the Buttons - I also purchased this lovely floral cotton lawn. When I chose it I imagined a Bettine Dress too but since I am now going to use the other cotton lawn, I am not yet sure what to make out of it but rest assured it is a great addition to my fabric stash :). Do you have any suggestions? Leave a comment below, I'd love to hear from you.
Sew Different UK - Tulip Dress
When I first started sewing, I found Laura from Sew Different UK on YouTube (I think), and really liked her patterns, especially the Tulip Dress. The combination of the check print and the red at the bottom of the dress, I loved it. Back then, I printed the free pattern of this dress which was only available in one size and thought I could manage to grad the pattern into the size I needed. Needless to say, I didn't manage that as a beginner two years ago and now I am even more thrilled that she launched her patterns in multiple sizes for purchase. Oh maybe the floral cotton lawn from above would be a great fabric to use - what do you think?
And last but not the least, I picked up this monochrome cotton at the local fabric & haberdashery shop to sew some make-up roll bags as Christmas Secret Santa gifts.
I already printed the patterns for the Grace Dress & Carries Trousers, and started with the first lessons of the online class - a review shall follow in the future. Till our Christmas Holiday in Scotland, I am officially banned from buying fabric :D
Thanks for hanging out with me.
